Flatpack Pictures is a social enterprise designed to strengthen community and highlight local history by hosting pop-up cinema events.

Pop-up screenings would take place in disadvantaged communities around the city where creative resources are scarce, and the specific locations of each screening would be based on where cinemas once stood. The intention is to develop and reinforce community, improve access to the arts and possibly provide opportunities for people in less affluent areas of the city.

 

The community cinema project is currently in development and is Dundee-based, however could be replicated in any city.

Opposite, the map illustrates the various locations that have been identified as possible sites for pop-up screenings. Each building is, or once was, a cinema or theatre.
